Worldcoin is a newly launched project establishing a globally distributed crypto UBI that intends الى prove ال unique “human-ness” من each recipient through their eye scanning device— collecting sensitive biometric data و converting this into numerical identifiers.
It’s certainly a different approach that is being taken الى ensure ال legitimacy من users than other live UBI-crypto hybrids, like that من Kleros و Proof من Humanity. However, ال primary controversy comes when acknowledging ال privacy implications. Biometric data is extremely sensitive و as من yet Worldcoin hasn’t provided confidence و assurance على ازاي exactly they are planning الى properly protect users against these vulnerabilities. Moreover, مع high بروفايل web2 investor names backing ال project, strong اسئلة are being raised about ال adherence الى decentralisation, where it appears that although ال project might be “building على blockchain”, these principles aren’t being effectively cascaded الى ال parts من ال project where it really matters; power و value control.
